Senior Health & Wellness
The Jewkes Foundation is very passionate about senior health and wellness. We regularly hold select classes to help keep seniors healthy, active, and sharp. Coach Reg, certified personal trainer, teaches Tai Chi, Zumba, Drums Alive, Total-Body Fitness, Brain Fitness, Basic ASL (American Sign Language), pickleball, sports, self defense, balance, and more.
We at the Jewkes Foundation know the importance of helping seniors stay active, healthy, and happy in their golden years. Yet, too many older adults don't have access to the many opportunities that are available to them because they aren't informed and/or don't have the funds to pay for fun and engaging programs.
Too many seniors are simply ignored and forgotten. Their well-being suffers, as does their mental state. They tend to just give up and not enjoy life. Many struggle because they’re on a fixed income and can’t afford to attend fun classes. Their stress level increases, which can cause new health problems and worsen existing ones. Stress can also speed up the aging process.
We want to change that and help older adults enjoy life by keeping them healthy and happy. Our classes and programs teach them to exercise both their bodies and brains, eat well, stay hydrated, get enough sleep, and meditate. Being proactive about managing and maintaining their physical and mental health and well-being will help them age well. We believe every person deserves to age well!
However, many seniors are living on a fixed income because they are no longer working and collecting a regular paycheck. They depend mostly or entirely on fixed payments from sources such as Social Security, pensions, and/or retirement savings. Therefore, many older adults won't participate in the activities and programs that will help them both physically and mentally. And this is why we offer free classes for seniors. With your donation, we can offer even more classes, courses, events, programs, etc. for our senior population. Please donate and help us help them. Thank you very much!
